Post-traumatic Incident Interventions
Post-traumatic Incident Management
March On Stress Ltd has a cadre of highly qualified and very experienced TRiM Practitioners to call on, that can be deployed worldwide to debrief and manage the psychological welfare of those exposed to a traumatic incident.  March On Stress Ltd Practitioners can work singly or in a team if necessary and of course, they can also support clients’ Practitioners, either while they ‘find their feet’ or in order to assist in a particularly difficult incident.

Pre-Travel Briefing and Post-Deployment De-Briefing
March On Stress Ltd recognise that your people may travel widely to countries where coups; insurrections; general political unrest and the like are a real possibility and the chances of witnessing or being involved in a traumatic incident increase accordingly.  We can provide background pre-travel briefing on customs and practices and instruction to mitigate the trauma experienced when the worst case scenario becomes a reality.  Similarly, a decompression de-brief can be undertaken with personnel that have returned from a trip or an assignment and this will allow any latent issues to be dealt with in a structured and empathetic manner.

Psychological Surveillance
March On Stress Ltd Clinical Director can provide clients’ personnel with a facility to monitor the psychological wellbeing of staff who routinely deploy to hostile environments. The use of a simple survey undertaken at regular intervals allows organisations to monitor changes in psychological state in order to maintain a good state of psychological health and occupational efficiency.  Surveillance is backed up by clinical assessments by telephone or in person as required. This service may have particular relevance for organisations that routinely put their people in harm’s way and who then disperse on rotational leave or similar.

24-hour Advice Line
March On Stress Ltd Practitioners can be made available to clients on a retainer basis, to provide immediate advice on all areas of trauma and its management.  This service may be particularly useful to organisations that as a matter of course put their people in harm’s way.

Training
Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) Training

Foundation Level Course (2-2.5 days)
This course of instruction provides someone with no specialist medical or psychological knowledge with the knowledge and skills to become a Foundation Level TRiM Practitioner. Foundation Level Practitioners can work to look after small groups of personnel who may be at risk of developing psychological distress after traumatic events. The course is skills-based and is backed up by up a series of lectures which ensure that relevant theory underpins the skills taught.  Instruction can take place in a neutral environment or at the client’s own facility and all books and training materials are included.

Advanced Level Course (2 days)
This course takes a Foundation Level Practitioner to Advanced Level. The course covers the theory in more detail and builds upon the risk assessment and briefing skills practitioners will have learnt during their Foundation course. Advanced practitioners can manage the psychological aspects of substantial incidents and conduct and lead group risk assessments.

TRiM Team Managers’ Course (1 day)
This short course provides Advanced Level Practitioners with the skills and information they need to manage a team of TRiM practitioners; covering such subject areas as the logistics involved in moving a team; man management in stressful situations and liaison skills.

Other Training
Managers’ Trauma Awareness Training
A half day or one day package aimed to give managers sufficient awareness of psychological trauma to enable them to prepare and support their staff when sending them to hostile environments. The half day package aims to engender awareness of the relevant issues related to traumatic stress, whereas the one day package focuses more on skills acquisition (active listening, trauma risk awareness) aiming to ‘skill up’ managers to spot traumatic stress problems in those that they manage.
