‘The impact of depression, anxiety and comorbidity on occupational outcomes’ – research

Research from Australia has explored the relationship between depression and anxiety on workplace performance and sickness absence.

Results have identified that workplace functioning is heavily impacted by depression and anxiety both independently and where they co-occur.

The researchers found that while comorbidity and more severe depression stands out as impairing, workplace interventions should also prioritise targeting of anxiety disorders (and associated presenteeism) given their high prevalence.
