Alcohol Awareness

Alcohol Awareness for Managers is a half day training session focused on alcohol use and misuse and the impact in the workplace.

The course includes:

  • How to recognise the combat indicators of drinking
  • How to use a brief screening tool (known as Audit C) to identify alcohol use
  • How to conduct a motivational enhancement interview to clarify the extent of someone’s drinking and persuade potentially excessive drinkers that cutting down makes sense. Motivational interviewing is an evidence-based approach which utilises a non-judgemental, non-confrontational approach

We recommend this course for managers, supervisors and any health or wellbeing staff. Delegates will leave the training with a greater understanding of the use and misuse of alcohol, with practical tools to help them recognise the signs of misuse and strategies to support staff, including motivational interviewing.

The training takes the approach of ‘less, not none’ with regards to alcohol consumption. It is recommended that in order for the training to be effective it is part of a robust workplace alcohol policy that is clearly communicated to staff. We can help with policy development on a consultancy basis so please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
