Building a community of psychological safety

Added on the 16th May 2025

As Mental Health Awareness Week comes to a close, we leave you with one question:

What kind of community are you cultivating at work?

Workplaces aren’t just made of tasks and titles, they’re human systems. And how we care for each other within them matters.

In 2023, the total cost of poor mental health to UK employers rose to an estimated £57 billion, driven not just by absence, but by presenteeism and high staff turnover.

But there’s another cost, less visible but just as critical: when people don’t feel safe to speak up, ask for help, or be honest about their struggles.

That’s where psychological safety comes in. It’s the cornerstone of community.

At March on Stress, we believe:

  • Mental health support is a shared responsibility, not just a service
  • Proactive care benefits everyone—not just those in crisis
  • The best workplaces embed psychological safety into their culture

Our whole-system approach helps organisations:

  • Detect risk early through confidential e-health monitoring
  • Build community capacity with peer support and leadership training
  • Provide specialist support for those who need clinical care

When care becomes part of the culture, teams become communities. Communities that thrive.

What’s your organisation doing to embed care, connection, and psychological safety into everyday working life?

Let’s explore how we can support your team: info@marchonstress.com.
