Introducing FIRST® - a new approach to trauma therapy

Added on the 26th October 2026

We're pleased to announce that the FIRST® Practitioner Pathway training will start in January 2027, specifically for appropriately qualified and experienced mental health and trauma practitioners.

FIRST (Fast Imagery Reversal Script for Trauma-release) is a brief talking therapy approach for people with trauma-related mental health conditions, including PTSD, which doesn't require clients to relive their traumatic experiences.

Developed by Dr Lisa de Rijk, FIRST has shown promising findings in clinical research, with further studies underway.

Working alongside Dr de Rijk and March on Stress Managing Director, Professor Neil Greenberg, March on Stress is offering a structured practitioner pathway combining specialist training, supervised clinical practice and competence assessment.

For a limited time, reduced rates are available to eligible practitioners joining as early adopters of FIRST.

March on Stress Business Development Director, Georgina Godden, said: “We are really excited to be running a course in this ground-breaking therapy in Reading from 26 - 28 January 2027, with the introductory live webinar - which will be recorded for those who can't attend - happening on 21st December 2026 and deadline for the pre-course work (10 hours) on 14th January 2027.

“If you do want to join us on this course in January, then please get in touch and we will send you a booking form. We will ask you to evidence your eligibility when you return the booking form and we can provide details of what is required to be eligible.”
